2601.1 | Don't quote the node name in the access control list | STAR::VATNE | Peter Vatne, VMS Development | Thu Apr 12 1990 11:57 | 5 |
| Don't quote the node name in the Customize Security access control list.
You only need to quote lowercase node names in SET DISPLAY commands.
The node name will appear in uppercase in the access control list,
but it will match both upper and lowercase node names. (Confusing,
I know. Not sure yet if we'll do anything about this for V3.)

| In any case, if you look in the server log (SYS$MANAGER:DECW$SERVER0_ERROR.LOG)
it will tell you why it rejected the connection. Actually, it will tell you
WHETHER it rejected the connection, and who it thought was coming in on that
connection.

2601.3 | decw$install_tcpip needed | WELWEL::GRAHAM | Hopelessly Hopeful ! | Tue Jul 31 1990 12:48 | 9 |
| Hopefully better late than never ! We have just had this re-haunt this
and the thing that must be done is to
define/syste/exec decw$install_tcpip true
in systartup_v5.com. This ensures that VMS will accept tcpip as the
transport.

Please do not use this logical name. It was used only during field
test, and may be removed in future versions.
The correct way to make sure the TCP/IP transport is installed is to
create SYS$MANAGER:DECW$PRIVATE_SERVER_SETUP.COM from the .TEMPLATE file.
The .TEMPLATE file has examples of how to setup the transport.
