Hi, strange problem occurs at customer's site. Has VMS 5.3 and DW 2.0. After logging into SYSTEM's account screen clears and (empty!) SessMgr appears. The rest of the session exists only in waiting, e.g. nothing more happens. Login from any other account works fine! After clicking on APPLICATION -> DECterm in SessMgr the message 'starting DECterm' appears and nothing more. Diskquota can't be the reason because of the DEFPRIVs. And the authorization values seem to be well. What could the problem be? <>Armin<>

Re: .0 Could there be a problem with the SYSTEM account's LOGIN.COM? Try renaming it to something else. Another possibility is that SECURPACK could be asking "Why are you logging in to this privileged account?". This would prevent you from being able to start applications from the Session Manager (as discussed in several notes in this conference). We had to disable this question on our system for this very reason. -- Bob | |||||

Thanks Bob, I had to know the solution (!). Sorry, but it was the same old story with the 'INQUIRE' in his LOGIN.COM. ...ashaming... Many thanks again. <>Armin<> |
