I am looking for graphics performanceof our DECwindows product. Does anyoneknow who might have some results of either MIT's x11perf benchmark and or a benchmark called "graphstones"? I am not familiar with graphstones, so I might be using the terminology wrong. I would like to use the data in competitive situations in my workstation sales. Thanks stev...

Thanks for the pointer. I think the x11perf will do just fine. Thanks for the speedy reply. stev... | |||||

(I know I gave you the answer in the DWT conference, but for others...) "Graphstones" are from Workstation Labs (WSL). Not to be confused with our Western Research Labs. These folks do benchmarking across different vendors platforms. Dave Wilson, president of WSL, also writes the column "Tested Mettle" for UNIX Today. Though this benchmark consits of about 10 different tests, it's a single digit value benchmark, like Whetstone & Drystone. Easy to compare numbers, but not very comprehensive. I have the source code for the entire suite of WSL Benchmarks - including Graphstone, Whetstone, Drystone, Kornerstone, CPU, I/O, Math functions, etc. If anyone is interested, they can be made available over the net. However, this version has not been ported to any of our platforms. The new tape came yesterday in fact. I have, buried somewhere, the press release announcement of the graphstone benchmark. garrett |
