2507.0. "Strange Decwindows behavior" by CSC32::G_HUBBARD () Fri Mar 23 1990 10:06
I have a cutomer that is experiencing problems with his Decwindows
interface. What's happening is that periodically when a window comes up its
very small, say about 2'' X 2''. All that is visable is part of the title
bar. It's like someone has reduced the window size as far as possible. He
tries to expand the window and nothing happens. I think these particular
windows area non-expandable. I'v experienced this same problem, but only
once or twice. He's seeing it several times during a session in EDCS (EDCS
is another DEC product that utilizes Decwindows for an interface). The
particular time that it occurred, the customer described to me, he was
going through a few pull downs until he got a sub-window that allows him to
enter additional information. This is the window that came up very small
and he couldn't do anything with it. The only way he could get rid of it
was to click the mouse on OBJECTS selection from the main menu in the
original window that EDCS provides. He would then go through the steps
again and sometimes the window would come up properly.
Has anyone heard of anything like this occurring before? I'v checked with a
couple of Decwindows people here and they haven't. I'm going to look into
some possible quota or parameter problems that may be causing this.
Does anybody have any insight as to what may be causing this behavior.
Thanks in advance,
Gary
