2489.0. "In search of... SLIDES!" by CSSE32::G_JOHNSON (Life is not a malfunction!) Wed Mar 21 1990 15:56

Hi all,

I have a need to give a "semi technical" presentation about
DECwindows/MOTIF, particularly from an NAS perspective. This doesn't need to
be indepth, but enough technical that it can explain what is DECwindows, and
how does it tie into NAS.

If anyone has any slides, or knows where some may exist, that I could
beg, borrow, or plunder ;-) pointers to same would be much appreciated! DDIF
format would be preferable, but us beggars can't be choosers!

Please reply to me via ENET mail. Thanks much in advance!

What is NAS...to me it means Naval Air Station ??

Also...for starters you may want to take a look at either a past Sales
update (Nov ?? I think) or the latest DECwindows Newsletter. Both have
the same write up about what DECwindows and OSF/Motif are, how they relate,
and what Digitals migration plans are.

This info should be a good start at preparing slides. I will see what all
I have and send you whatever I find.

NAS - Network Application Services.

That's right. But it is a large undertaking. Essentially it is our
"strategy" for selling integrated environments. Components that play
together regardless (in theory) of the platform, and exchange data flawlessly.
DECwindows, CDA, SQL, forms, are all "NAS services" that is, they are
components that make up the basis for our products working together in an
integrated environment. So, what I am looking for is anything that focuses on
the technical aspects of DECwindows with regards to I14Y, components, etc. I
have a lot of V1ish stuff, which is actually still appropriate, but I am
hopeing to find some motif type screens, as well as anything NAS specific.

Thanks again for any help!
