2434.0. "MIT building a "courses/training" list" by KOBAL::VANNOY (Jake VanNoy) Mon Mar 12 1990 17:56

    Below is a request from Bob Scheifler at the X Consortium. What sort
    of resources that DEC has meet the customer training request that
    he makes? Any replies here in the next week or so, I will put
    together and send back to Bob as the "DEC response".

    thanks,
    jake

    Subj: do you talk about X? (please forgive this intrusion)

    I've been bombarded lately with requests worldwide, looking for people
    willing to go on-site and give lectures/courses/training on any and all
    aspects of X. Usually for some kind of fee.

    At present I don't give out much info, because I don't really have any.
    I'd like to take a shot at gathering some, so please forgive this
    intrusion.

    If you (individual or firm) do this kind of thing, and want your name
    on my list, please send me private mail with your name, email address,
    postal address, and phone number, and a very brief synopsis of the kind
    of material you are capable of covering. Any aspect of X, including
    vendor-specific toolkits and GUIs, is fine. I don't want to know what
    your fees are, I don't want a bio, etc.

2434.1Who gets the money?FUEL::grahamThe harder they come..Mon Mar 12 1990 19:4611

This may sound like a silly question ....I'll ask anyway.
Who gets to pocket this "fee"? I mean...Digital or the
individual?  Any conflicts of interests?

Kris..
2434.2Asking about what we do already, I think....DECWIN::FISHERPrune Juice: A Warrior's Drink!Tue Mar 13 1990 13:0213
I think the point is that Bob want to get a list of people/groups which do
this training for money. He wanted to make it clear that he was not looking
for volunteers, but rather for people who already do this as part of their
profession.

I think we should get listed with him whatever stuff we as a corp have to offer.

It would seem to me to be a clear conflict of interest and against our employee
agreement to teach courses in DW and pocket the fee ourselves. (Before someone
asks me, I offer no opinions about Honoraria offered for tutorials and conferences
etc.)

2434.3I think we qualifyVOGON::DRUMGOOLEThird Party Applications GroupTue Mar 13 1990 16:3426
    Our group ran the DECwindows ISV program here in Europe and
    currently has a Motif program on the Boil. Use the mail
    address vogon::tpag, or on the internet,

    [email protected]

    We could only give lectures to ISVs, but we would be happy, dare I
    say it, even keen, to do this sort of thing in Europe.

    regards,
