2427.0. "The fonts for the bookreader" by GYPSC::BINGER (Explode an acronym) Mon Mar 12 1990 04:09

	just a quick one. ..

	I have just got my first online documentation CDROM. I cannot read
	it due to fonts being missing.

	Does this mean that I must run the DECWINDOW_TAYLOR again. The
	question is this whwre the fonts are installed on the system disk.

	Rgds,
	stephen

	It is an information window so I cannot cut and paste. I will have
to resort to the old and tiresome method of typing it in.

Cant open font number 2:
-ADOBE-Helvetica-Bold_r_Normal--*-120-75-75-P-*-iso8859
................medium  ....

and many more.

2427.3May need to tailor on fontsSTAR::VATNEPeter Vatne, VMS DevelopmentTue Mar 13 1990 11:4610
-ADOBE-Helvetica-Bold_r_Normal--*-120-75-75-P-*-iso8859-1

corresponds to

SYS$COMMON:[SYSFONT.DECW.75DPI]HELVETICA12.DECW$FONT.

Please see if that file exists. If it does, then QAR the problem
against DECW$BOOKREADER. If that file does not exist, you will
have to tailor on the 75 DPI fonts with DECW$TAILOR. Please post
the result here either way. Thanks.
2427.4I have tailored it onto the systemGYPSC::BINGERExplode an acronymWed Mar 14 1990 07:2417
	I tailored it onto my system and then logged/out.in... I still get
	the message.

HUNGER $ dir sys$common:[sysfont.decw.75dpi]helvetica12

Directory SYS$COMMON:[SYSFONT.DECW.75DPI]

HELVETICA12.DECW$FONT;1                        8  26-OCT-1989 16:36:53.06

Total of 1 file, 8 blocks.

	could you let me know the noitesfile/process to make this into a
	QAR. If you could mail me the reply as well then I could QAR it
	today,

2427.5Need to restart DECwindowsLARKAN::KRALLarry Kral NAMP 592-5462Wed Mar 14 1990 09:173
    Adding the font and logging in/out is not enough. Fonts are only
    loaded when DECwindows starts up. You need to also either restart
    DECwindows or reboot the system to restart DECwindows.
2427.6How to QAR... Note 2STAR::VATNEPeter Vatne, VMS DevelopmentWed Mar 14 1990 10:4914
See note 2 on how to enter a QAR.

However, Larry Kral is correct, you must restart DECwindows to pick up
the new font. From a privileged account, just type

	@SYS$STARTUP:DECW$STARTUP RESTART

and answer "Yes" to the "are you sure?" question. Note that you can
run this command in a DECterm on the same workstation you are restarting.

You can also reboot your system.

(In the next version of DECwindows I plan to make the addition of fonts
more automatic so that logging out and in again will do the trick.)
2427.7Big font for the manuals??GYPSC::BINGERExplode an acronymFri Mar 16 1990 08:117
	Thank you very much for your patience and assistance. I have now
rebooted and I can read my manuals from the CD. Along in the line of Fonts.
Is it possible to have Bigfont for the documents. ??

	Thanks and Rgds,
