Hi Folks, Does anybody know if/when we are going to support color sixel under ULTRIX. Specifically, I need to capture a portion of a screen in color for later printout. Currently, the color option in the Customize menu (from DECWindows sesssion manager) is not selectable. Thanks....jahan moreh Irvine, Ca. pinan::jahan or latrix::moreh

You could use UTOX to capture the entire screen, and then crop it to the portion you want, and write it out in color sixel form. Check out the CLOSET::UTOX conference for details. | |||||

The unsupported program /usr/bin/X11/savimg captures all or any rectangular portion of the screen in color. The color image can then be printed on the supported color sixel printers (LCG01, LJ250) using supported ULTRIX print filters. To preview your image, you can redisplay it on the same screen using /usr/bin/X11/resimg. The savimg and resimg programs are in all versions of UWS software. They are not nearly as capable as UTOX or other programs that have been developed in recent years. However, they are in the product and are integrated with the supported printer capabilities, so there is no problem accessing the software even for customers. John |
