2383.0. "quick Cut/paste problem with LSE " by AZUR::NAVARRO (ADG VBO X5161) Fri Mar 02 1990 10:10

  Hi,

I read Decterm,Decwindow, lse, lsebug note files to find an answer to
following problem ,but without any real clear solution

When on Decterm using LSE and quick CUT/PASTE (Mb1,Mb3) feature , i selected
the following text

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
    BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
    CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
    DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

The resultant paste buffer (most of the time) looks like

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
        BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
            CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
                DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

I don't know if it is a problem with :

LSE ,bug or setup problem (wrap, indentation, left margin)
  DECTERM ,...setup of Decterm (display,general,keypad..)

Does anyone a solution or a direction where to look for, or should
cross this note in DECterm and LSE notefile ?

LSE V3.0-23 on VAXTPU X2.5 (i used LSE with Default character cell display )
VMS 5.3-1 Decwindow 5.3

Thanks for your Help

RE:              <<< Note 2383.0 by AZUR::NAVARRO "ADG VBO X5161" >>>

Before pasting, make sure LSE is not in WRAP mode.
Press the DO key to get the "LSE Command> " prompt, then issue
the SET NoWRAP command before using quick copy or paste...Ken

            hi,

i tried the Set WRAP ,set NOWRAp without any sucess ,in fact it seems
that when a left side exists this blank is incremented...

and for instance if i past the following buffer

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

	AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
	BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
	CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
	DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

i will obtain that resultant pasted buffer (the first part is correct)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

        AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
                BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
                        CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
                                DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

It's probably that you have autoindent enabled. It does the same with
my very own TPU section file. I would say it's a fact of life, and
there is no bug anywhere. Think about the data being cut and pasted,
and think about if you were entering it yourself. You would get the
    same result.

you got the point ,in my youth , i used to built my own lse section file
