Don't quite know what you mean on the first but the second's definitely
covered.
MWM is definitely the way to go. Check out SUBWAY::MOTIF Notes File
for the details.

2378.3 | here's two pointers | CVG::PETTENGILL | mulp | Fri Mar 02 1990 04:00 | 11 |
| Based on your description you are looking for the window manager supplied with
the PC DECwindows support. See the PCDECWINDOWS conference for info on its
availability. A version from about a year ago is available on CVG:
dir cvg""::sys$system:pcx$winmgr
Directory CVG""::SYS$COMMON:[SYSEXE]
PCX$WINMGR.EXE;1 124 23-FEB-1989 15:01:24.00
You're welcome to it, but I can't vouch for it on V5.3 aka DW V2.

2378.4 | Window manager info again? | AYOU77::KMCLELLAN | Kenny | Fri Mar 02 1990 05:47 | 31 |
| Thanks for your input but unfortunately this is not doing what I ideally
want for my users.
What I really need is ( apoligies for any misinterpretation I may
have given ) :-

What I need is to be able to grab the window at any
part and drag it without positioning the pointer
on the banner e.g position the pointer at the points
marked * and dragging the window.
thanks once again for your efforts.

2378.5 | Mwm | STAR::CYPRYCH | | Fri Mar 02 1990 11:06 | 3 |
| You still may be able to use MWM if you customize
your button definitions for the frame... I havent
tried it, but it may be worth the investigation.

If you want a banner *and* you want to be able to grab & move the
window from all '*' points above, your two choices are Motif (MWM)
and HP (HPWM). I stopped using HPWM with 5.2, so I can't help you
with a pointer there. But with some minor Xdefaults/RC customization,
both WM's will do this for you. The PCX$WINMGR doesn't have a
banner if I recall.

2378.7 | Ok, I tried the PCX$WINMGR and here's a picture - note the windows moved off the top and the wide borders | CVG::PETTENGILL | mulp | Sat Mar 03 1990 01:28 | 217 |
2378.8 | BTW, you probably won't be able to appreciate the previous note without... | CVG::PETTENGILL | mulp | Sat Mar 03 1990 01:37 | 2 |
| the PCX$WINMGR or perhaps MWM since you need to expand the window to larger
than the size of the screen...
