I have a customer who needs some of the MIT utilities such as XPalette. Are these available for use on VMS DECwindows? Thanks.

Some people have ported some of them, but so far as I know, there is no central repository of MIT utilities. I suggest you get an MIT tape (or have the customer do so) and port what you want. As someone in a recent note said, there are very few X incompatibilities. It is mostly a standard Unix/VMS port job (most frequently stuff like bcopy, bzero, etc and select. The b* stuff will be in DECW$EXAMPLES on VMS V5.4. select you have to deal with on a case by case basis. Burns | |||||

Someone on outside of DEC has converted a lot of the X11R3 kit for VMS; I don't recall where I saw that announced; try the dwexamples or X conferences. I have that software as of December which I can make available in a saveset if needed. However, XPallete doesn't appear to be one of the things in this collection. |
