    Hy there.
    
    I am in charge with Digital Turkey I.S. activities. (there are easyest
    work but you have to search a lot).
    
    I installed to a Vax 3900 VMS 5.2 but I had not by the time of the
    installation Decwindow kits.
    
    I wonder if the Decwindow kit available with VMS 5.3 will fit or
    not,(if not where can I find the right one) and if I can install 
    it with Tailoring ?
    
    Be kind to the first question ever write down from Digital Turkey,

So someone from Austria has the honour. Here we go.

DECwindows 2.0 field test used to run under VMS 5.2 and I suppose it is possible
to get the FT kit if you contact the right person ( I DON'T happen to know who
that would be ).

Why don't you upgrade to VMS 5.3 ? It would definitively be less painful and you
would get internal support. I'm not sure what happens if you have a question and
state you have FT DW.

Was it frustrating for a first answer ?

Whoops, I think I misinterpreted your question .

Fact is ( apart from what I said in .1 ) that you need DW V1 in 5.2 and
DW V2 with 5.3

Hi Sam,

Let me give an answer to your questions as well. 

As already posted in the previous reply, VMS 5.3 is working with DECwindow
Version 2.0. If you don't want to upgrade your system you should copy the 
DECwindow Version 1.0.

There are many locations, where you can get the kit. 

I give you below two important nodes for each version. The Decwindow backups
in those directories are the correct Versions to VMS (1.0-5.2/2.0-5.3):

 1) dcc""::sys$kits:[vms.v52]   /* The node is in Germany */
    dcc""::sys$kits:[vms.v53]   

 2) visa""::sys$kits:[vms053]   /* The node is in France */

You can install them anytime with "RUN SYS$UPDATE:DECW$TAILOR". 
More information must be available in your Upgrade and Installation Guide

    response to Digital Turkey.
    
    Your response is not so frustating, and could be consider as a good
    solution, since I know where to get vms5.3 and decwindow that fit
