2226.0. "Position of child in parent?" by TOWNS::RUFFIEUX () Wed Feb 07 1990 08:28

    Is it possible to move a window using the title bar and have its
    children move to (either while the parent is moving or after it has
    been positioned?) For Example I have a main_window widget for my
    parent. This main_window produces a popup_dialog_box. The customer
    would like to be able to move the main_window and have the popup_
    dialog_box follow. I did a dir/title= on servearl titles but could
    not see any notes pertaining to this topic.

    Any Ideas or answers would be appreciated..

2226.1Not easily...LEOVAX::TREGGIARIWed Feb 07 1990 10:0310
There is no mechanism currently built into either the window manager or
the toolkit to make this easy. The Motif window manager has discussed
adding such a feature in the future, but it's probably a year or two
away at least. In the mean time, if you *really* think you need to
do it, you can by watching for the events that signify that the main
window shell has moved, and then moving the popup yourself. I've seen
a number of notes on how to find out that a shell has moved, but I don't
remember where...
