2187.0. "icons not matching node name" by CABOOS::SYSTEM () Fri Feb 02 1990 09:02

    VMS V5.3   DECWINDOWS V5.3

    Several days ago whenever any user connected to a system their ICON
    would match the node name but for some odd reason this has changed
    the system manager mentioned he made no changes, what now happens
    is that whenever a new window is opened instead of the node name
    appearing the DECTERMx where x is 1,2,3,4 etc. Icons appear

    Any ideas what caused this and what should be checked,
    Thanks for any input

Yes - the user did a "Save Current Settings" from a DECterm window, and one
of the settings it saved was the icon name. Tell the user to edit
SYS$LOGIN:DECW$TERMINAL_DEFAULT.DAT and to remove the lines that specify
the icon name.

RE:.1

This is happening to all users,I just checked and no decw$terminal_default.dat
existed in my default login directory, but this problem still exists.

    Sorry, I didn't read your note closely enough. The "DECterm x"
    icon titles are the default. In fact, the only way I can think of
    that you'd normally get the node name in there is if you were
    using VWSLAT. How are these sessions getting created?
