We recently upgraded to SDC VMS V5.2 and DECwindows V2. The first time a user logs onto a workstation, the DEC logo and login dialog box don't disappear! To make them disappear, the user has to log off, and then log back on again. Any clues as to the cause of this behavior?

DECwindows V2 only comes with VMS V5.3. If you have upgraded to VMS V5.2, then you actually are running DECwindows V1 with some bug fixes. What you describe is a common problem. Edit your SYSTARTUP_V5.COM file and delete the line that says "@SYS$MANAGER:DECW$STARTUP". This is documented in the VMS installation guide. |
