2149.0. "Displaying DDIF documents in a window" by KAOU35::DLEROUX () Fri Jan 26 1990 11:12

I am writing an application which requires me to display various types of
files (documents, images) in a window among other things. I have found
tools that will allow me to convert most files to pixmaps.

However, I have not found a way to display DDIF documents in a DECwindows
window (like the CDA Viewer does).

According to what I have read of the CDA toolkit I might have to write a
back end or something like that.

If anyone has written a converter or tool which I can use or can give C
examples of a similar CDA back end, the help would be appreciated.

If anyone has better solutions please suggest them since I do not want to
develop this if I don't have to.

Thanks

If you just $TYPE the .doc file, you'll see the text, but lose
    formatting.

I need to keep the formatting, images, fonts and all.

Call the CDA Viewer widget. See the CDA manual for how.

I can find any mention of a CDA Viewer widget in my CDA manual.
That could be because the manual is dated December 1988 (VMS 5.1).

Could someone point me to the new CDA docs since I can't seem to
    find their location.

    Thanks in advance,

You can export a bitmap from DECWindowas into a ddif frame using the
DECimage Image Services Library. You can also read a ddif file and
import it into DECwindows as a bitmap.

I have finally found documentation which discusses the CDA viewer
    widget.

I thank everybody for their help and suggestions

For those who want to see more discussions on viewing ddif files
from an application check out note 134 in DDIF::CDA.
