I have posted entry 2081 regarding being logged off when I try to
Capture a Portion of the Screen. My feeling is that the Capture
Portion of Screen is not the major cause of the error, and that other
activities have a similar effect.
Has anyone had the same problem (been suddenly logged off) and determined
the cause or known where to look to troubleshoot. My only alternative
seems to be to reinstall DECwindows, which would also mean reinstalling
DECwrite and DECdecision and I would like to do this as a last resport.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Susan

Perhaps you could enable image accounting and see if you can get any
hints from the termination status values as to what's happening.

The printscreen function is part of the session manager application.
There are bugs in this function that can cause the session manager
image to exit with an access violation. Because the session manager
controls workstation security, when it exits it always asks the
server to disconnect all clients and force a new login. Thus a
relative minor bug in a function like printscreen can terminate
your entire session.
Several printscreen problems were fixed in VMS V5.3. If you are
still seeing this with V5.3 please file a QAR.
