2118.0. "X across net problem, help!" by WPOMM2::ZAMBOTTI () Tue Jan 23 1990 23:47
Hi but once again,
Ok so I log onto my ULTRIX PMAX and start a session on a VMS PVAX like :
% dlogin wpopc1
USERNAME: ZAMBOTTI
PASSWORD: #####
.
.
.
$ set display/create/node=wpomm1::
$ dxcalc
And low and behold I can run X applications accross the net, simply amazing!
But if I log onto the VMS PVAX and try and run an X application on the ULTRIX
PMAX it wont go. Here's I try : (starting from a DECterm on the VMS PVAX)
$ set host wpomm1
login: zambotti
password:#####
.
.
.
% setenv DISPLAY = wpopc1::
% dxcalc
X Toolkit Error: Can't Open display
%
I have tried issuing "xhost wpopc1::" but all I get is :
xhost: unable to open display "wpopc1::"
I have also made sure the the security from both session managers has each of
the others node entries, but still no go.
What have I failed to do guys/girls ?
Signed X netting only half way there,
Walter Zambotti.

| I don't know if this is your problem, but the correct SETENV command
is:
setenv DISPLAY wpopc1::0

| Please reply with the host list entry on the PVAX for the PMAX (i.e.
DECNET WPOPC1 ?).
