I have two nasty things that happen to my cardfiler and have forced me
to save every single time I make an addition. A real pain.
1) Cardfiler crashes, randomly, when I initiate any kind of search.
2) Cardfiler, about 10% of the time, crashes when I try to pick a card
somewhere near the end of the alphabetical index, at a random place. So
I have to delete the latest version, keep multiple backups, and every
songle time I initiate Cardfiler I have to pick the last card (the end
of the "Z's" to ensure all the cards are pickable, before continuing.
I'm not a techie, so don't know how to do all the VQR stuff, whatever
that is.......

| More information please.
What are you running (VMS, Ultrix).
What versions are you running?
What size database do you have?
Can you let me copy the database and test with it?

It says 79/81 blocks in show file
The file is in DUA1:[thackeray.public]digital.card
The nodename is IE0022
I'm not a hacker so don't know how to do anything else. I don't know if
I have set priviledge so you can copy, but I guess it's worth a try.

| Well I can't read the file. The following protections need to be set:
dua1:[000000]thackeray.dir (w:r)
dua1:[thackeray]public.dir (w:r)
dua1:[thackeray.public]digital.card (w:r)
Also, what version of VMS are you running?
