2054.0. "dxmail problem " by MARX::KELLEY () Tue Jan 16 1990 21:37

    I have a problem with dxmail where I can't see any of my messages
    in my inbox.

    I am running on a DECstation 3100 Ultrix 2.1 (Rev 14) and my system
    crashed while reading mail. When I rebooted I could see all the
    messages in all folders except my inbox. When I do a

     ls ~kelley/Mail/inbox

    all the files are there... is there anyway that I can fix a file
    somewhere so that I can see my inbox again. When new mail is sent
    to me and I click to read it it also does not appear.

    Help

rm Mail/inbox/.decxmailcache

Or select rescan folder from the maintainance menu,
2054.2still have the problemMARX::KELLEYWed Jan 17 1990 17:4118
    Tried both and didn't neither worked...

    I do see a new .decxmailcache in the directory after doing these steps.

    I also see a file called Mail/inbox/.mh_sequences which looks as follows

    cur: 862
    temp: 153 220-221 304 404 716 759 769 773 800 821
    unseen: 517-532 534-537 546-552 556 593-597 620-632 635-637 blah
    blah...

    When I do the rescan folder it just flashes

    Folder:inbox Sequence: all 0 messages

    Any other suggestion

2054.3Try removing the .mh_sequencesOPHION::WEISSMANWed Jan 31 1990 21:2314
Try

	rm ~/Mail/inbox/.mh_sequences

and then select "Rescan folder" from the Maintenence menu. (There is a known
bug in mh which can put junk in the .mh_sequences file. This causes all sorts
of problems.)

Note that doing this will lose information about whatever sequences you may
have defined in your inbox. In particular, all of the message will be marked
as seen; none of the messages will have the little "front-of-the-envelope" icon.
Most people don't seem to care about that, anyway.
