2046.0. "In xlib what maintains the text cursor?" by WPOMM2::ZAMBOTTI () Tue Jan 16 1990 03:56

Hi again,

sure do have a lot of questions!

I am porting an application that requires both a crosshair cursor and a text
cursor at the same time.

I'm going to use XCreateFontCursor() to get my crosshair cursor. But how do
I maintain a seperate cursor (possibly flashing) for the text at the same time
as the crosshair cursor is on the screen?

You know just like the flashing text cursor in VAX Notes:Edit!

Any clues,

Walter Zambotti.

2046.1You have to do that.EXLIB::DLUGOSZOpen foot, Insert MouthTue Jan 16 1990 10:5410
You have to maintain the text cursor on you own. You can use a graphics
context with it's function set to GXxor to draw/undraw the cursor
as your're moving it. You'll also, of course, need to keep track
of the character widths as (especially if you want to backspace
    over a proportional font).

I can mail you a quick example if needed. Let me know.

Hello Ron,

I would be interested in your example as well, and it would be very nice,
if you could send it to	me (PANNE::SUSANNE). Or perhaps you could include
it into notes conference DW_EXAMPLES , and send me a short message ?!?

Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
