    VMS 5.4 internal field test kits are now available. The DECwindows
    contents of this release includes Display PostScript and the XNLS

The VMS 5.4 internal FT  kit is available at VMS distribution sites.  This kit 
will upgrade on any V5.* (X5.3 and X5.4 versions will also work) and will 
install from standalone backup.  The current documentation will be in the same 
directory as the kit.

To report problems with the software use the AETNA-IFT (Aetna is the code name
for 5.4) database on TRIFID to submit QARs. All discussion of the 5.4 kit 
should take place in the VAXWRK::VMSNOTES conference.  There are a few known 
restrictions that accompany this kit, refer to VMSNOTES conference for more 
information.

It is important to note that if you wish to use Host Based Volume Shadowing you
must replace the SYS$LOADABLE_IMAGES:SHDRIVER.EXE and
SYS$SYSTEM:SHADOW_SERVER.EXE with the images provided in the distribution
directory.

    Have there been any changes to DECwindows since T5.4-4GE?  Please let

    Yes there have been DECwindows changes since T5.4-4GE that 
    will appear in the eventual SSB V5.4 kit. 

    I have the bookreader/CD information for DECwindows V2, but not the
    online PostScript files.  Where may I find them?  Is the T3.0
    documentation available also and if so, where?

    There are no .A or .B kits in this area!  Arrrrgh!
    
    I have .C through .Hand of course, it won't install.

DECwindows for VMS is bundled as part of the general VAX/VMS kit.  That's why
there's no .A or .B.  Just copy the kit from your nearest distribution point
(for you, Mark, that's PAGODA::KITS:[VMS054]DECW054.%) and then run
program SYS$UPDATE:DECW$TAILOR on your VMS 5.4 system and request that it tailor
on those parts of the DECwindows kit that you want.
