2037.0. "DECwindows V?" by EPOCH::JOHNSON () Mon Jan 15 1990 09:36
We just spent a WEEK upgrading to VMS V5.2. Seeing as how the "Organizer"
requires V5.2, we then tried to run it and got
%DCL-W-ACTIMAGE, error activating image DECW$XLIBSHR
-CLI-E-IMGNAME, image file $1$DUA0:[SYS0.SYSCOMMON.][SYSLIB]DECW$XLIBSHR.EXE
-SYSTEM-F-SHRIDMISMAT, ident mismatch with shareable image
I perused this conference and noticed the conference notice that says
DECwindows V2 is available with the VMS V5.3 SSB kit.
My question is, how can we tell what version of DECwindows we're running now?
The first part of ANALYZE/IMAGE SYS$SYSTEM:DECW$SESSION.EXE shows
image format major id: 02, minor id: 05
header block count: 2
image type: executable (IHD$K_EXE)
I/O channel count: default
I/O page count: default
linker flags:
(0) IHD$V_LNKDEBUG 0
(1) IHD$V_LNKNOTFR 0
(2) IHD$V_NOP0BUFS 0
(3) IHD$V_PICIMG 1
(4) IHD$V_P0IMAGE 0
(5) IHD$V_DBGDMT 1
system version (major/minor): 1.0
Also, I saw reference to SYS$UPDATE:DECW$TAILOR and peeked at it. It
complained thusly:
%RMS-E-FNF, file not found
-VMSTLR-I-FNF, Filename = SYS$UPDATE:DECW$KITBLD.IDX
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Pete

| If you're running VMS V5.2, you've got "DECwindows V1" (unless you
installed an early field test kit for V2). If you install VMS V5.3,
you have "DECwindows V2". The naming of DECwindows versions is confusing
because DECwindows is not a separate product, and assigning version
numbers such as V1 or V2 to it is a matter of convenience for identifying
which phase of DECwindows development you've got.
