1966.0. "Opening Phase 0 for Additional tools" by WEREOK::SSCHNEIDER () Fri Dec 22 1989 16:09

                        DECwindows Program Office

                           is opening Phase 0

                               for the

ADVANCED DECWINDOWS DEVELOPER KIT FOR OSF/MOTIF

(internally referred to as 'the SDT Toolkit'

This is intended to be a layered product which will be fully
Motif-compliant and which will give application developers some
additional and more advanced tools than are currently offered by the
toolkit or other products for DECwindows. The current list of
contents contains the following widgets. These widgets are currently
offered for internal use by layered products. However, there have been
requests for these widgets by customers.

1. SVN - Structured Visual Navigation Widget. This is the widget which
is used by DECwindows mail to allow the navigation of the
    hierarchical directories.

2. GObE - a world coordinate virtual display system.

3. Neted - a "network editor" widget which is layered on GObE
and supports generic manipulation (including automatic layout
and routing) of "nodes" and "arcs".

We are entertaining other requirements or suggestions for contents to
this kit. The goal is to provide some advanced 'tools' or 'widgets'
which would make application development easier and more flexible for
customers. Requirements should be sent to CLT::SSCHNEIDER no later
than January 31, 1990. Phase 0 will occur in early February.

Thank you for your continuing interest and support of the DECwindows
Program.
