Has anyone had experience with using Decwindows with "Kanji". If so
do the Vaxstations with Decwindows work?
Regards,
Lynn

Sure, VAXstations can run Japanese DECwindows. No special hardware is
required, although it may be helpful to get the keycaps with Japanese
Kana characters on them; otherwise the keyboard is exactly the same as
the LK201. However, that's just the first of a series of questions, I
expect.
Japanese DECwindows requires Japanese VMS (perhaps an obvious
statement, but perhaps not) and neither product is in the US AQS. If
you have a customer who needs Japanese capability, your office should
be in touch with DEC Japan.

Let me add to Simon's reply. Japanese DECwindows for both VMS and Ultrix was developed by Asian Base-Systems in Tokyo and Spitbrook and released within three months of the corporate release(s). It provides full support for Kanji in XUI, a Japanese terminal emulator and translated clients. Tim | |||||
