1950.0. ""compX10" fonts available for VMS?" by ARTFUL::SCOTT (Our Snark is a Boojum) Tue Dec 19 1989 20:20

Are the non-DECwindows fonts (particularly those found in /usr/lib/dfw/compX10/
on VAX-Ultrix and in /lib/X11/fonts/compX10/ on Risc-Ultrix) available in some
form portable to VMS? My group is interested in a third-party "DECwindows"
application which is being released first as a port to Ultrix (they're coming
from SUNOS). Until their VMS port appears, we'd like to use an interim solution
of setting up an Ultrix client to run this as served by the VAXstations in our
offices, which will be running VMS. However, they chose to use vtsingle.onx and
vtbold.onx fonts, since they thought that these would be available across all
X-server platforms. Though you can configure some of their font choices, others
seem to be hardcoded.

Obviously, they are going to have to fix this mess. But as a short-term solu-
tion, it would be nice if we could get our hands on the .BDF files for these,
or if someone who has them could compile them for us on VMS. (That is, of
course, if it doesn't constitute some sort of copyright infringement). Thanks.

The bdf for those fonts exists in the UWS source pool. Talk to the UWS honchos
(Joanne Falco ([email protected]) or Rich Hyde ([email protected]))
if you want the sources.
