1931.0. "Cpu use takes off to 100%?" by TALK::JARVIS (Next Unseen, The Infinite Voyage) Sat Dec 16 1989 08:00
Since our upgrade to SSB V5.3 and DECW V2, we've been having strange
happenings with 2 or 3 applications. Namely, Notes T2.1b, DECW$mail
(Came with V2 DECW) and DECpresent (BL4). When we try to do a
Directory of conferences in Notes, the Directory Window pops up, and
then the process takes as much Cpu as it can (up to 100%). This also
happens in DECW$Mail when I try to pull up the customize window
dialogue box. And when I try to link to spreadsheet in DECpresent
(since this is BL4, I'm not to worried about this problem... yet).
There are numerous people on our cluster experiencing the same
problems. And it's really bogging down our cluster. I've autogenned
and rebooted all nodes, and still no change. We've seen a reference to
the problem in note 875 in VAXNotes_Bugs. But can't see any other
reference anywhere else. Any idea what's going on? How can we fix it,
or is *BlinkRate: 0 the only way?
Yes, I know, "Doctor, it hurts when I do this..." "well, don't do
it..." But it's really beginning to affect our productivity.
Thanks in advance,
Garth Jarvis

1931.2 | XDPS? | STAR::ORGOVAN | Vince Orgovan | Sat Dec 16 1989 14:36 | 3 |
| Any chance you installed BL4 of XDPS on this system? It has a bug
that causes this behavior. See note 20.1 in the XDPS conference on
BULOVA.
