I have a problem with the server finding fonts on a diskless workstation. The diskless server is a DS5400 and the diskless ws is a DS3100. The application in question is DECWindows SNA 3270 TE. I loaded this product using dms into the dlenv area. I also loaded this product on a standalone DS3100. This product installs 4 fonts into the directory /usr/lib/X11/fonts/decwin/screen75 (from the 5400 side, this would be /dlenv0/root0.mips/usr/lib/X11/fonts/decwin/screen75). I verified after installation that these font files were installed in that directory. After booting both the 3100 and 5400 (i know the 5400 wasn't necessary, but i was grasping at straws) the fonts still were not loaded. I logged into the standalone DS3100 and checked the same directory, and the files were there and the fonts were loaded. To make sure that the font files on the diskless side were not corrupt, I copied the font files from the known working system to the diskless area and rebooted... still not loaded... Is there something I haven't done or am missing (I've read as many of the font notes here as I could find). Is there a problem with fonts and diskless systems (the /usr/lib/X11/fonts directories are read-only ) Sorry for rambling, but we have customers flying in *very* shortly (45 minutes) to see this Thanks... With the help of Colorado Springs, we just fixed it... Since the directory (/usr...) is mounted readonly and there is a file in the fonts dir (fonts.dir) that needs to be updated. After updating that file by hand from the 5400 and executing an xset fp rehash, everything went fine.... Thanks, Jim |
