1871.1 | add my vote for this feature | 1SHOT::HOULE | Steve, NM is the future! | Fri Dec 08 1989 14:55 | 10 |
| Hi,
there is a utility(hack) called "message" which is meant to pop-up when it
receives op-com etc.. It needs some work and isn't appropriate for a customer.
It sure would be nice if the session manager had this feature!!!!!
If someone's considering it see how/what "message" does...for example the
windows "goes away" after a time.

The created message window has a timer set on it .. so
that after 'n' seconds the window is deleted (but this 'feature'
can quickly removed)

1871.3 | what does message do? | EMASS::FLETCHER | Robin G. Fletcher, SWS -> WAO | Mon Dec 11 1989 08:08 | 6 |
| OK. I am lost. What is this "message" service and will it cause the
session manager window to pop to the top with system management "wall"d
message like "shutdown in five minutes". Yes, I am in the ULTRIX
environment.

1871.4 | what message is | 1SHOT::HOULE | Steve, NM is the future! | Mon Dec 11 1989 11:52 | 7 |
| re -
Message is an application hack (probably on compiled for VMS)
that creates its OWN pop-up window per "received message" -e.g. an OPCOM message.
It doesn't have anything to do with the session manager (or its window).
