I have come to understand that the postscript extension is allocating 128 shared color table entries. This is bad news for applications that need to allocate private color table entries. Is there a conference somewhere where I can find out why this is so? If not, can someone please explain it here? It seems like a very un-X thing to do to go around allocating colors that may never be used, thereby wasting a most precious resource! Thanks, -Dave (formerly LDP::WEAVER)

I agree with .0 in some ways. There is a way to do what you want, sort of, though. However, I should add that what XDPS is using is X's "Standard Colormap" convention. Notice that there are some predefined atoms and some xlib calls to do this, and I think there is more specified in the ICCCM. In any case, let's take it to XDPS for further clarification. Burns |
