We've run into a major problem running on FIREFOX. We are running;
- VMS 5.2 (and tested with VMS 5.2-1)
- GKS T4.1-5
The problem we are encountering is that in our GKS application you have
to go between windows. "Most" times the user goes from the graphics
to the DECterm window the screen freezes and a set host to the machine
shows that DECW$SERVER has 100% of the one of the CPU's and from
a show process/continuous we see that it is looping.
We are also able to recreate the same problem when setting host to machine
running VMS 5.3 and using that as the DECwindows client.
The same code has run fine on 3100 and GPX's and set host to the same
DECwindows client.
Any ideas? Any other information we could get to help research the problem?
thanks,
Rosemary Reid

I have also seen this problem . A customer was running his GKS
application on a VS3540 with VMS 5.2 and GKS 4.0.It was very easy
to get the application to hang the system. When this occured ther
server was hogging one of the CPUs. I also ran the application on
the firefox but used a VS3100 and a DS3100 as the output device
and the application ran fine. This would point the finger at the firefox
server. I have posted this in the GKS notesfile and the server was
thought to be the problem. There are a number of notes in the FIREFOX
notesfile which describe similar behaviour and I have been mailed
directly asking if I have found a solution (which I haven't).It
would appear that a number of people are having these problems. Is
there a fix on the way and if so which version? I shall SPR the
problem.
regards Mark

Back in August, under V5.2, I tripped over something similar. It
turned out to be a bug in the software clipping code. It's fixed in
V5.3. (QAR #3359 - DECWINDOWS-IFT).
