1779.0. "DECpresent ULTRIX internal field test announcement" by SARAH::COTE (PRESENTER_BUG) Wed Nov 22 1989 10:31
We are pleased to announce that the ULTRIX version of DECpresent is now
available for internal field test. This product supports both VAX and
RISC hardware.
DECpresent for VMS and ULTRIX is a compound document processing
application that allows users to create and format professional looking
35mm slides and overhead transparencies. Slide documents may contain
text, graphics, images, and supported application data. DECpresent
offers an integrated outliner, table editor, text editor, and graphics
editor.
You will find the internal field test ULTRIX version of the product in the
following location:
cheung::/more/kits/DECpresent/ift1/DECpresentinstall
Please copy the file and execute it as a root.
(NOTE: UWS V2.1 is required by DECpresent)
As you know, there's no free lunch! If you decide to participate in our
internal field test, we'd like a little something in return.
First we'd like to know that you've copied the kit, so send your name,
node address, DTN, and any other important information to me, Bill Cote
(SARAH::COTE). This will help us keep track of who is using the product.
Second, if you have any problems, questions, or suggestions we'd like
you to enter a note in the DECpresent Notes Conference. The DECpresenter
notes conference can be found at QUEEN::DECPRESENT. We will be
monitoring this note and we will respond to entries as quickly as
possible.
Third, we'd like you to agree to use the product keeping in mind that
this is an internal field test product and may not be fully functional,
and may contain bugs. By running into and reporting bugs, you'll be
helping us deliver a quality product to Digital's customers.
Lastly, don't re-distribute this product to anyone, inside or outside of
Digital. The product is not ready for our general customer base. You
should also know that the internal field test versions of the product
will not function after February 28, 1990.

Bill,
Thanks for the announcement! I'll get involved as soon as I can.
One question, what happens after Feb 28th? IFT is great as it
allows a good shaking out of products before our customers get
them, but I'd like to know that I can have my cost center billed
and get the official version or next FT version in time for Feb 28th.
