Hi there out in the world,

**after deposing the article below in the documentation-conference since
one week without any answer, I try it here**

I hope that I'm right in this conference with my problem.

A customer believes that he's found a documentation error concerning
DECwindows Application Programming.

In his documentation (as in mine) the DRM Routine "OPEN HIERARCHY"
in Vol. 1C, pages 4-23,24, the argument 'file_names_list' is described
as 'an array of pointers to the character strings.'.
He believes that it has to be 'an array of pointers to the string descrip-
tors of the character strings.

I'm not so experienced in DECwindows Programming (unfortunately...) to
decide if he's right.

Can somebody give me a hint ?

Thanks in advance

Well, it depends. The VAX binding definitely uses an array of pointers
to descriptors, so he's right there. I'm unsure about the MIT C binding,
for which I suspect the manual description is more accurate. This is
something definitely in need of clarification. I suggest that you enter
a VMSDOC QAR about it.
