1758.1 | Huh? | DECWIN::JMSYNGE | James M Synge, VMS Development | Fri Nov 17 1989 18:14 | 4 |
| Perhaps you can be a bit more specific? Why are you assuming that we are
ignoring the SYSUAF fields?

| Brett,
We shouldn't (and don't, as far as I know) "ignore" any SYSUAF
fields at all. That'd be...(sylvester the cat impression here)
desthpicable! Not to mention daft.
Let's take this again. Your customer believes that DECWINDOWS logs
in differently to vanilla VMS. The Login process additionally runs
SYS$MANAGER:DECW$SYLOGIN.COM and SYS$LOGIN:DECW$LOGIN.COM if they
exist, and kicks off applications if desired. What differences does
your customer perceive?
Finally, please let us know what versions of VMS and DECWINDOWS your
customer is running.

Maybe they're talking about the PQL minimums that DECwindows requires
and thus override the UAF settings.

1758.4 | Sysuaf flag NOFORCE_EXP_PWD_CHANGE | CSC32::HULL | | Mon Nov 20 1989 09:56 | 12 |
| Thanks for all of the responses. Specifically the customer is having
a problem with the flag NOFORCE_EXP_PWD_CHANGE. At a normal DCL login
if this flag is set it will allow the user to login and perform tasks
before they have to change the password. When he uses the DECwindows
login box it makes him change the password when he logs in regardless
of how this flag is set. I included almost all of the sysuaf flags and
qualifiers because I understood that other flags were not checked when
you loged in under DECwindows. Please give me some more feedback so
that I can narrow this question down.
Thanks for Your Support.

1758.5 | DEcwindows set password implementation | STAR::BROUILLETTE | | Mon Nov 20 1989 11:31 | 12 |
|
When you run loginout from a terminal there are three paths for expired
passwords: 1. a warning that your password is about to expire, 2. a
prompt for a new password, 3. a warning to run set password. The third
case is the one you are interested in. With a DECwindows login, only
the 1st and 2cd cases are handled. The third case is coded like the
second, we put up the set password box. A message to run set password
didn't seem very user friendly when we don't have a DECwindows interface
to set password and can't get to it from ANY menu on ANY application.

1758.6 | Thanks | CSC32::HULL | | Mon Nov 20 1989 15:40 | 4 |
| Thanks. The customer wanted that option because he handles this
through a memu procedure. I would like to thank everyone for the help.
Brett.
