1730.0. "Help arranging Corp Visit" by BLAKLY::YAPLEE_JE () Mon Nov 13 1989 21:53

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to post this, but
the moderators will probably let me know :^). Anyway, I'm helping
to arrange a Corporate visit for AMD. They are interested in
discussing the performance and cost implications of various
configurations of x-servers/clients/terminals, and in particular
their impact on the network. I've been in contact with some people
in NaC engineering and product marketing to cover the FDDI side
of things. But I would really like to get some people from the
windows world to help in the discussions. Does anyone have any
suggestions for people from marketing or engineering that can address
the performance implications on x-windows/Dec-windows on a network,
or anyone who has done any modelling of this. If you have any
recommendations please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I think we have all been sort of tolerant of this sort of request
because of the current push to close business (of which I
    am totally in favor!).

However, there should be channels to make this kind of request. The
intent of this conference is technical discussions, not requests for
visits and consultations. Can we please hold it down from now on?

So far as I know, this kind of request should go through the product
manager, who is currently Paul Steeves for VMS.

    Thanks for your cooperation...

1730.2title of note could be the problem...SICVAX::GRAHAMif ya want home cookin, stay homeTue Nov 14 1989 12:3518

    Burns,

I understand your concern...but I believer the base noter is
actually looking for technical info. The title of the base
    note is really the problem.

If you read the base note carefully, you will note the following.

    >interested in discussing the performance and cost implications
    >of various configurations of x-servers/clients/terminals,
    >and in particular their impact on the network.

I believe the there is enuff technical inquiry to start a
debate. Maybe, the title of the base note need be adjusted to
reflect the intent of the inquiry.

There is a channel for this. The corporate visit specialist assigned
to the visit will make the inquiries after receipt of the visit request
package. Of course, that assumes that a request is filed... 8')
