I tried to bring DECWindows up after running my Vaxstation II with VWS. I set, WINDOW_SYSTEM 1 in my nearly empty MODPARAMS.dat file, AUTOGENed and rebooted. The screen has the DIGITAL logo and Start Session Box on it. I login and the logo and session box go away, the Icon box appears at the top, then the logo and sesssion box reappear on top of the session manager and filevue windows that are created!! I can move the screens but the logo and session box are always on top of the windows making them useless. What's going on?

1727.1 | Unnecessary DECW$STARTUP call? | AGBEAR::HORNER | A.G.Bear, Old fashion teddy bear | Mon Nov 13 1989 12:18 | 7 |
Sounds like you have an extra DECW$STARTUP.COM call somewhere. This was required to be in SYS$STARTUP_V5.COM for VMS V5.1, but needed to be removed starting with VMS V5.2 when DECwindows startup was integrated into VMS. Many people did not find this out right away, and got two login sessions going. Dave | |||||

That was it exactly!! I know that I took it out once but what I think happened is that I blew away the most recent version of SYSTARTUP-V5.COM which left the version with the 2nd DECW$STARTUP in it. Thanks -TB |
