1725.0. "Fileview run,print and EVE journaling" by SCOTMN::WOOD (Richard Wood - UK Workstation Support DTN 833 -3801) Mon Nov 13 1989 06:10

Hello again,

I have 3 queries :-

1) Running applications while using the EVE/DECWindows editor seems to
seriously degrade EVE performance. Is there a way of setting process
priority when kicking off new applications from Fileview. Could you
set priority from within the Fileview command procedures which start
   such an application, eg. VUE$RUN.COM

2) Does anybody know if DECWindows EVE journaling is performed in the
next ( V2 ) DECwindows release, if not, is it going to be in a future
   release ?

3) When you select print from Fileview, is there a way of changing the
the default print queue eg. to SYS$PRINT instead of the first in
   the 'SHOW QUEUE' list ?

Any info much appreciated

Well, I can answer #3. This was a bug in DECwindows V1. In DECwindows V2,
the default printer (unless the DECW$PRINTER_FORMAT_... logicals have been
defined) will be SYS$PRINT.

If you are still running DW V1, try defining DECW$PRINTER_FORMAT_TEXT.

TPU V2.4 and its corresponding EVE V2.4 have implemented Buffer Change
Journaling (as opposed to Keystoke Journaling in previous versions).
This allows DECwindows EVE to have journaling capabilites. This version
of TPU and EVE are part of VMS V5.3 and DECwindows V2, available
internally at all standard distribution locations, shipping to
customers in the next 6-8 weeks.
