Does anybody know what the devices, PYA0: and PKA0: are ? PYA0: seems to be utilized when using the client-server relationship for fileview applications. eg. From a wokstation(chinese workstation), set host to a big VAX, use SET DISPLAY/CREATE/NODE=wrkstn and finally $ SPAWN/NOWAIT RUN SYS$SYSTEM:VUE$MASTER. Any application created from the resulting fileview session results in a 'PYAn:' device on the client. Can anyone clarify what these devices (class of device) are, or point me to some documentation which does so. DECwindows Device Driver manual explains about I%An: and G%An: but I can't find info on the above. Thanks in advance Rich

1655.1 | PY goes with TW | PRNSYS::LOMICKAJ | Thu Nov 02 1989 13:47 | 9
The PY device is the application side of the pseudo-terminal driver. The terminal side is the TW device with the same unit number. Notice that you always have the same number of PY's as you do TW's. Generally, if you assign a channel to PYA0:, you get two devices created. A PYAn: and a TWAn:. Writes to the PY are seen as keystrokes to the TW, and writes to the TW may be picked up by reads to the PY. I don't know what the PK is.
