How can I change default DECwindows .DAT files so that I can customize site-specific features without having to modify every users files? For example; I want all users to have a VUE or UUE pull down menu that is site specific and can be managed by SYSTEM or root.

An unsupported way to do this is to edit the versions of the files in DECW$SYSTEM_DEFAULTS: For something like VUE customization you might want to make the changes through VUE locally to your account and then edit identical changes into the system files with TPU. That way you get the syntax right. Dick | |||||

RE: .0 needs site-wide VUE customization There is a supported way to do this. See the VMS DECwindows User's Guide "Sharing a Custom FileView" for details. |
