1623.0. "are messages in /usr/adm/X0msgs important?" by XNOGOV::MAXWELL (Dave Maxwell - European Ultrix Eng. ) Wed Oct 25 1989 09:23

I am an Ultrix Decwindows user with no knowledge of Decwindows programming and
I wondered what the significance of the messages in the /usr/adm/X0msgs file is.
The log has been running since July and has for example 4439 occurences of

MEMMGR/XREALLOC - zero amount is requested

Does this indicate a problem? Are these messages documented anywhere?

The machine is running Ultrix-32 V3.1 (Rev. 9) UWS V2.1 on a VS2000 with 16Mb
ram and 17Mb of swap (not enough I know). The user uses dxwm and dxsession and
displays several clients from a VMS server

Unless the message was just before a crash or other misbehavior, they generally
aren't serious. If you get a lot of them, they might be worth a QAR. My
X0msgs ususally contains just startup messages.
