1616.2 | T5.3-462 bugs, I thought it was just me... | TBLADE::GEEHAN | Inquiring Minds Want To Know... | Mon Oct 30 1989 15:45 | 13 |
| re: .0
I get the same thing. See note 1277.11
I have this with NOTES. I reinstalled V2.0 and still had the problem.
I then installed x2.1a and still get the problem.
I don't recall seeing it with MAIL, but I'll check again.
Thanks,

1616.3 | New SVN? Reinstall DECwrite | GOLLY::MILLER | KT's is a Sensual World | Mon Oct 30 1989 17:33 | 14 |
| re: .0, .2
Sounds like a new version of the Svn shareable image was installed on
you.
re: .1
I'm pretty sure you need to re-install DECwrite when upgrading to 5.3.
I can't figure why the Server'd keep crashing on you...much less why
you'd be getting transport errors! Are you using a DECwindows Terminal?

1616.4 | Thanks, I'll check it out | TBLADE::GEEHAN | Inquiring Minds Want To Know... | Mon Oct 30 1989 19:13 | 19 |
| Hummm, interesting;
Thanks for the info. I don't have any problems with DECwrite, but when
I think about how they were ahead of the game with the CDA stuff, it
may make sense to re-install it. It can't hurt when I have some extra
time.
The way I recall things, DECwrite needed to be re-installed after V5.2
but not after (T,V)5.3. This was because it contained CDA components
that were not put into VMS until ?5.3. I upgraded to T5.3-462 and did
not re-install DECwrite and do not have any problems with DECwrite.
BTW: I finally stumbled across note 1632.*. It has a nice work around
to the Svn problem.
Thanks,
djg...

1616.5 | | SEEYOU::HUTTON | Jim | Tue Oct 31 1989 03:49 | 14 |
| Well,
i tried reading notes 1632.*, 1277.* and all mention the problem
fixed in each other notes, trouble is i cant find the answer ??
i still get
X Toolkit Warning: Widget class DECterm version mismatch:
widget 7001 vs. intrinsics 11003
when starting apps, this example came from lse
I suppose note 1639 may have the final solution to the bug ?

1616.7 | GKS 4.0 IVP
| RHETT::GILBERT | Jeff Gilbert, VMS workstations support, CSC/AT | Wed Nov 01 1989 13:13 | 21 |
| I have a customer getting the same type error when running the
GKS version 4.0 IVP:
X Toolkit Warning: Widget class Compressed_motion_window version
mismatch: widget 7001 vs. intrinsics 11003
the customer is running DECwindows FT5.3 and trying to install GKS
4.0. The IVP appears to run sucessfully through both iterations then
gives the above message and ACCVIOs.
Is GKS 4.0 supposed to work with 5.3 DECwindows?
Garry Poegel says in GKS note 1359.6
> The *ONLY* way around this problem is to get the fix from DECwindows.
> It has been fixed. It's just a matter of getting that version to
> the customer. Please talk to the DECwindows group as there's nothing
> GKS can do.
Thanks,
Jeff

1616.8 | SVN *and* LSE developer's answers | TLE::D_SMITH | | Fri Nov 03 1989 12:02 | 36 |
| As author of the SVN widget and as an LSE developer, I can address both issues
raised in the basenote.
Version mismatch on Svn class
-----------------------------
In widget class records, there is a "version" field. There are two options
for widget writers here. One option is to put XtVersion and the other is to
put XtVersionDontCheck.
The XtVersion option forces a comparison to be made and a complaint logged to
the terminal if we are not running on that version of the intrinsics. The
version of SVN that notes has linked in it says XtVersion. Shortly after
Notes went to SDC, this field in the SVN widget was changed to the don't
check form.
This message in notes can be ignored. Notes is the only product that I am
aware of that has this problem. The only way that you can see this in mail
is to be running Mail from V1 on a V2 system.
Running LSE V2.3 on DECwindows V2
---------------------------------
As far as running LSE V2.3 on a DECwindows V2 system. There is a problem
where it cannot find the UNDO menu item to change. There is a procedure
posted as note 303.1 in TURRIS::LSE_BUGS that you can extract and extend
your editor by that eliminates this problem. Press KP7 to add LSE_BUGS to
your notebook. 8-)
There are other problems with running LSE V2.3 on a DECwindows V2 system.
These problems are with the graphic characters font. Special characters
such as visible tabs supposedly present problems.
You may want to see the TURRIS::LSEDIT notes conference for information about
the internal field test kits for LSE V3.0. This supports both DECwindows V1
and V2 by installing separate images built against the separate versions.
