1554.0. "Wish for security information display" by NITMOI::PESENTI (JP) Wed Oct 11 1989 10:41

Now that my workstation does not crash regularly (thank you autogen feedback!),
I find I hardly ever log in anymore. As a result, I don't get any of the login
security messages I'm used to.

Is it possible to have the pause function broadcast this sort of info to the
session manager's message area when it successfully resumes? For example:

Session last paused at dd-mmm-yyyy hh:mm:ss.
n failed attempts to resume session.
	Last interactive login...
	Last Batch login...
n failed attempts to log in.

all but "Session last paused at dd-mmm-yyyy hh:mm:ss." should be
available from accouning information

1554.2Yes... but ACCOUNTING makes me say "&%$#^$%@!!!"NITMOI::PESENTIJPWed Oct 11 1989 14:405
True, but every time I have had cause to look at accounting, I started cursing.
I'm looking for something easy that any non-privileged user could take advantage
of to check on login attempts. Something in the same vein as the messages that
loginout displays when you log in.

At least one of the things you are asking for is already provided within the
DECwindows that is part of V5.3 of VMS. That is "The number of incorrect
passwords during Pause Session was 1 (13-Oct-1989 09:58)".
