1531.0. "looking for a mouse-sweep-to-ascii conversion program" by HANNAH::OSMAN (see HANNAH::IGLOO$:[OSMAN]ERIC.VT240) Wed Oct 04 1989 17:37

Does anyone in reader-land know of a DECwindows application
that will let me use the mouse to draw curves, and then the application
will produce an ascii file I can type on a regular terminal (or
	a DECterm).

For example, if I hold down the mouse button and sweep the mouse
from upper right to lower left, I should get something like this
	in the output file:

 *
  *
   *
    *
     *
      *
       *
        *
         *
          *
           *
            *
             *
              *
               *
                *
                 *
                  *
                   *
                    *
                     *
                      *
                       *
                        *

My particular need is to draw some kattakana characters and send
	them to a usenet group.

	Thanks.

/Eric

Use DECpaint to form the characters, save them as X11 bitmaps and do
some clever editing and you'll get what you want.

You can replace the clever editing with a simple program and it will go
    even faster.

It sounds to me like you could write a quicky VAXTPU procedure to
just drop a character whereever you click a mouse button. That
would get you your ascii file directly.
