Does anyone in reader-land know of a DECwindows application
that will let me use the mouse to draw curves, and then the application
will produce an ascii file I can type on a regular terminal (or
a DECterm).
For example, if I hold down the mouse button and sweep the mouse
from upper right to lower left, I should get something like this
in the output file:
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*

My particular need is to draw some kattakana characters and send
them to a usenet group.
Thanks.

Use DECpaint to form the characters, save them as X11 bitmaps and do
some clever editing and you'll get what you want.
You can replace the clever editing with a simple program and it will go
even faster.

It sounds to me like you could write a quicky VAXTPU procedure to just drop a character whereever you click a mouse button. That would get you your ascii file directly. -Jeff | |||||
