    Do anyone know of any incompatibilities with regards to imaging, between
UWS V1.0 and 2.0/2.1? My problem is with xpaste. It seems to momentarily
allocate as many colors as possible to display an image, and then DEallocate
them, followed by displaying the image. If the colors have been already
set by another application, then an image can be displayed to look quite
strange. If the colors have never been set (defaulting to black) then my
image is black. It used to work fine with the UWS that first came with the PMAX
(X2.0?) We are running V2.1 now and are in the process of backing down to V2.0
to see if that works or not.

    If I set my DISPLAY to a VMS workstation running V2 of DECwindows, the
image is displayed fine. If I run it on the vms workstation and send the
output to the ds2100/3100, I see the strange results.

    I have the sources to xpaste, as well as several old images and they
all produce the same results.
