1464.0. "Running DECWRITE remotely" by SUPER::SYSTEM () Wed Sep 20 1989 10:28

    I am trying to run DECWRITE remotely, or rather one of my users is
    trying to and neither of us know how to set the FILEVIEW up to
    recognize the executable from another system. Can you help??

    Thank you sooo much

It has nothing to do with recognition. It has to do with specifying the
right DCL command for the verb you are using to start DECwrite. And to
do that you need to figure out how to start it.

One approach is to make sure the appropriate .COM file is on the remote
node (which will do a SET DISPLAY and run DECwrite) and that appropriate
proxies are set up and to do a SUBMIT/REMOTE from VUE. If you are in the
same cluster with the remote node, it is much simpler, of course. You just
submit it directly to an execution on the remote node.

Another approach is to run File View remotely to begin with.

Another approach is to arrange the appropriate network objects to fire
DECwrite up as a task.

I think there are some examples of doing this stuff in this file. Also I
think I remember someone had created a utility to do it. Try searching
titles for things like "REMOTE" etc.
