1413.0. "License problems with September Online Docset" by URSA::HEUSS (Forward into the past) Mon Sep 11 1989 13:58
I'm running VMS V5.1 on a VAXstation II/GPX.
I just received the September VMS Online Documentation Set. I took down the
July CD, mounted the September one, copied the LIBRARY.DECW$BOOKSHELF from the
CD to my system disk, appended my read-write disk file pointers to the end
of the CD sourced file (same routine I've always used) and tried to access some
of the new books. I keep getting No License Active messages for books from the
CD. I get no errors when trying to access books that are based on my system
disk.
As an experiment, I went to the PAK infobase and got a new license for VAX C.
I disabled the old one and loaded the new one. I remounted my July CD, set up
LIBRARY.DECW$BOOKSHELF from that disk, and tried to access the Guide to VAX C
from the doc set. No problem. I then went back to the September disk, set up
LIBRARY.DECW$BOOKSHELF and tried to access the same VAX C document and got the
"No License error". Any ideas what license it thinks I'm missing??
Actual Error:

| Answered my own question. I just read the coverletter and discovered the stuff
on BOOKBROWSER.COM and the BOOKBROWSER PAK.
It all works fine now.. 8^}
