1408.0. "Term. widows, poof!" by DPDMAI::PAINTER () Mon Sep 11 1989 11:58

I have the dubious honor of running decwindows on a vaxstation 2000
(6 meg. of memory). Every 2 or 3 days when I'm moving between
windows, the workstation pauses momentarily, then all (4) of my terminal
windows go away. The processes are deleted. My session manager,
fileview, and a calendar process remain.

Can someone tell what's going on?

The windows go awaquickly (uncharacteristic of what I'm used to on
the vaxstation).

My first thought is that this is an error, but maybe it's a more
aggresive form of memory management ;) .

Thanks

Re: .0

It sounds like this might be the infamous error number 02db821c (Xlib I/O
error). If you're running DECwindows V1 there should be an error message
in the session manager's message area when DECterm crashes. In DECwindows V2
(i.e. the field test version) you can get a log file by defining the logical
name DECW$DECTERM_OUTPUT in LOGIN.COM or in LNM$SYSTEM_TABLE.
