Check the DECW$BOOK logical. Chances are that the logical isn't
assigned correctly.
The DECW$BOOK logical should point to the area that the bookreader
documents live. Note that this logical must be assigned in the process
that is running bookreader (be careful if you define it in the process
table).
Our cluster is up to VMS V5.2, and I'm not having any problems with the
bookreader.

Also check to see if the upgrade replaced the LIBRARY.DECW$BOOKSHELF
file in DECW$BOOK. If it did, all the pointers to your other books may just
have disappeared. Hopefully you didn't purge during the upgrade, and the old
file is still around - or restore it from your backup...
