1366.0. "When is an applilcation ready for input?" by AKO619::SYKES () Mon Sep 04 1989 20:16
I'm beginning to become semi-useful with Decwindows, but find one indicator
lacking that would be of great help. With VWS, the banner had indicators
which would show when the workstation was busy, such as the rotating globe or
cube, or the bar graph. With DECwindows, I can't tell when an application is
ready to accept input, and find myself either typing too far ahead or
wondering when to type.
Is there an easy way to know when the app is ready for input, and if not, will
there be?

| Check elsewhere in this conference for a DECwindows version of banner. I
personally use Xfish for this purpose. If the fish stop swimming, then I know
my workstation is doing something.
